How To Treat Nail Fungus
Posted on Thursday, October 6, 2011 by my style
Nail fungus affects many people around the world. Medically known as onychomycosis, it is mostly seen in older people who are constantly sick and have symptoms of ill health for some time.
Treatment of nail fungus is very simple. Most cases of onychomycosis can be treated with simple home remedies. We give you a full explanation of the simple ways to cure nail fungus.
Treating Nail Fungus
*
Bathe your affected toenails in a mixture of apple cider vinegar and lukewarm water, in equal proportions, for around 15 minutes. You can also use undiluted vinegar by applying it directly to the fungus affected area with a dropper. This process has to be repeated at least three times a day.
*
Another way to treat nail fungus would be to use an anti-fungal exfoliating scrub. For this, mix coarsely ground rice flour with a few drops of apple cider vinegar. Apply this paste over the affected nail and the surrounding area and then gently rub it into the nail and skin. You can use a cotton swab for the purpose.
*
You can use tea tree oil on the affected toenail several times each day. The oil should be massaged well so that it penetrates inside.
*
Garlic has antiseptic qualities. A great way to treat toenail fungus would be to grate garlic and apply it on the affected area. Keep it overnight. Another method would be to wear socks and keep garlic cloves inside it all through the night.
*
A mixture of soy sauce and pine cleaner works wonders in curing toenail fungus. Apply the mixture in drops on the affected toe after bath.
*
Combine lemon juice and olive oil in equal proportions and massage this into your feet. While olive oil will help to soften your skin, lemon juice would help control the fungal infection.
*
Warm a little of tea tree oil and lavender oil. Now, mix the two in equal proportion and apply it on the affected region with the help of a cotton swab. Dab it under the top edge of the toe nail and surrounding area 2 or 3 times a day. While tea tree oil is a natural antibiotic, lavender will help fight the infection and prevent skin irritation, as it has antiseptic properties
*
Another effective home remedy would be to blend 2 drops of Oregano essential oil with a tsp of olive oil. Apply this mixture for about three weeks, but not more than that. Oregano possesses antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitical, antiviral, analgesic and antifungal properties that helps treat fungal infection.
Adhere to these home remedies and infuse life to your nails.
